Remove Your Information From Google Search

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Cloaked removes your personal information from data broker websites, but Google search results are managed separately.

This guide shows how to use Google’s Results About You tool to reduce how often your personal information appears in Google search results.

This is a Google-managed feature. Cloaked does not control this tool or submit requests on your behalf, but we strongly recommend enabling it as part of your overall privacy protection.

How this fits with Cloaked Data Removal

Cloaked focuses on removing your personal information from data broker websites and people-search sites.

When those listings are removed, many Google search results disappear automatically once Google updates its index.

However, some search results may come from websites outside the data broker ecosystem. In those cases, Google’s Results About You tool can help you request removal of certain results from Google Search.

Using both tools together helps reduce how easily your personal information can be found online.

What This Tool Does (and Doesn’t Do)

What it does

  • Monitors Google Search for results containing your personal information

  • Notifies you when Google detects new results

  • Lets you request removal of specific results that include your phone number, address, email, or name

What it doesn’t do

  • Delete the information from the original website

  • Replace Cloaked’s data broker removal process

  • Guarantee that every search result will be removed

Think of this as search result suppression, not data deletion. Google decides whether a removal request meets its policies.

Google Search results are not always up to date, and can take months to be corrected. That's why we recommend this tool, and Cloaked Data Removal services, as that can be really helpful for faster results.

What Cloaked Data Removal can and cannot remove

Cloaked specializes in removing your information from data broker and people-search websites.

Cloaked can remove information from sites that collect and sell personal data, such as listings containing:

• Phone numbers
• Addresses
• Email addresses
• Relatives
• Background information

However, Cloaked cannot remove information from websites that control their own published content.

Examples include:

• News articles or media coverage
• Blog posts or editorial content
• Government records or court documents
• Business listings
• Most social media pages

If your information appears on those types of sites, you typically need to contact the website owner or publisher directly.

Google’s search removal tools can sometimes reduce visibility of those pages in search results, even if the original page remains online.

Step 1: Turn On Google’s “Results About You”

  1. Go to Google’s Results About You page:
    https://myactivity.google.com/results-about-you

  2. Select Get started (or Settings, depending on your device).

  3. Follow the prompts and click Next until you reach the information entry screen.

  4. Enter the personal details you want Google to monitor:

    • Name(s)

    • Physical address(es)

    • Phone number(s)

    • Email address(es)

  5. Click Continue.

  6. Choose how you want to be notified:

    • Email

    • Push notifications

    • Or both

  7. Click Save, then I’m done.

Google will now monitor search results for matches to the information you provided.

Step 2: Review and Request Removal of Results

When Google finds results that include your personal information, you’ll receive a notification.

  1. Open the email or text message from Google.

  2. Click Review results.

  3. Scroll to the Results found section.

  4. Review the listed results.

    • You can select individual results or choose All results.

    • You may also see results related to family members or people you know.

  5. Click Request to remove.

Google will review your request and remove approved results from search.

What to Expect After You Submit a Request

Google typically takes several days to review removal requests.

If approved:

• The result will no longer appear in Google Search

However:

• The original page may still exist on the website that published it
• New results may appear over time if your information is published elsewhere

Keeping notifications enabled allows Google to alert you when new results appear.
