Cloaked Browser Extension Settings & Controls

Updated over 2 weeks ago

The Cloaked browser extension helps you protect your personal information while browsing. It can generate secure identities, create and autofill passwords, and help you sign up for websites without exposing your real email, phone number, or credentials.

This article explains how to access and manage the extension’s settings. These controls allow you to customize how Cloaked appears on websites, how and when it generates or fills information, and how to temporarily or permanently disable the extension when needed.

Prerequisites

Before using these settings, make sure you have:

  • A Chromium-based browser (Chrome, Edge, or Brave)

  • The Cloaked browser extension installed

  • An active Cloaked account

  • The extension logged in and enabled

Accessing Cloaked Extension Settings

To open the extension settings:

  1. Click the Cloaked extension icon in your browser toolbar.

  2. Select the three horizontal dots between the Add button and the Turn Off button.

  3. Click Extension settings.

From here, you’ll see tabs for Appearance, Notifications, and Turning Off the Extension.

Changing Extension Appearance and Behavior

The Appearance tab controls how and when Cloaked prompts appear on websites.

You can adjust:

  • Prompt placement

    • Dynamic placement near the detected field

    • Always place prompts below the field you’re interacting with

  • Activation behavior

    • Automatically activate when you click into a supported field

    • Only activate when you manually click the Cloaked icon in the field

These options help reduce visual clutter or better fit your workflow, depending on how often you use the extension.

Notification Position Settings

If extension notifications overlap buttons or content on a website, you can reposition them.

To change notification placement:

  1. Open Extension settings.

  2. Select the Notification tab.

  3. Choose your preferred notification location.

Changes apply immediately.

Turning Off the Cloaked Extension

You can disable the extension temporarily or permanently without uninstalling it.

Turn Off the Extension Completely

To disable the extension across all websites:

  1. Open Extension settings.

  2. Go to the Turn off extension tab.

  3. Toggle the switch to Off.

The extension will remain off until you manually re-enable it.

Disable the Extension on Specific Websites

You can prevent Cloaked from appearing on certain domains.

Method 1: From Extension Settings

  1. Open Extension settings.

  2. Select Add a website.

  3. Enter the site’s URL or domain.

  4. Click Save.

Cloaked will no longer prompt on that site.

Method 2: From the Extension Menu (Quick Disable)

  1. Visit the website where you want Cloaked disabled.

  2. Click the Cloaked extension icon.

  3. Click Turn off.

  4. Select the option showing the current domain.

This disables the extension only for that specific site.
